George Dyer, a tenor soloist on Lex de Azevedo's Christmas Gloria album, makes his debut with Wondrous Love. Dyer has a strong tenor voice, and sings in true opera style, in contrast to his contemporary tenor David Barrus who is known for a Broadway style. There are 12 tracks on this album, mainly hymns and classical religious pieces, all accompanied by a full-blown orchestra as one would expect from an opera singer. The arrangers include Kurt Bestor and Jay Richards, two very talented gentlemen from the Salt Lake area. Veteran producer Kenny Hodges offers his talents as a conductor for several numbers. The results are quite rewarding. The opera fan looking for a spiritual lift is bound to find much to like about this album.
