As a precursor to their second full-length album, Amber, Clearlake treat fans to a collection of British remixes and B-sides on Wonder if the Snow Will Settle. This seven-song EP is a lovely introduction for those unfamiliar with the pop goodness of the Almost the Same EP and Cedars. Avid collectors of the band's singles will most likely own these songs already, but Wonder if the Snow Will Settle is worthy of attention. Ben Hiller recrafts "I Want to Live in a Dream" for a psychedelic tinkling of lush choruses and shimmering guitars. His work on the EP's title track gives it a moody shape à la early-'90s Britpop versus the charming flow of the original version. Other highlights include an a cappella rendition of "Almost the Same" and a rollicking cover of Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl."
