This album, recorded in 1965, was considered by many to be among the most stunning acoustic albums of its day. Of midwestern origin, Roderick possessed a voice of maturity beyond her years and on this masterpiece, captured a haunting and haunted blues diary. The album mixes blues and folk classics, including "You Were on My Mind," prior to its release by We Five. Woman Blue was re-released on CD in 1995, with the ill-advised addition of several outtakes from the original sessions. This is a breathtaking document of a talent left virtually unknown.
