Judging by their name, Scaries leaves the impression that they're a silly, Misfits rip-off band. But within a few second of listening to Wishing One Last Time, a blast of mature, upbeat pop-punk fills the air. When everyone else unintentionally manages to sound like The Queers or NOFX, this Chapel Hill quartet features an original hybrid of metallic guitar leads, fast paced ballads and gentle vocals. Although the influences of All (Scott Reynolds-era), Descendants, the Get Up Kids and Jawbreaker are present, Scaries dish out their own flavor of energetic pop that would almost be insulting to compare directly to anyone else.
