AllMusic Review by

While the music sometimes leans a little too heavily on the synthesizers and drum machines that helped to provide Oingo Boingo with some of their punch, Elfman's score for Emilio Estevez's Wisdom demonstrates something that many people were slow to realize - that Elfman has considerable range as a composer, and is by no means confined to a particular kind of orchestral bombast. Here he shifts easily between crashing percussion arrangements that may put some in mind of Stewart Copeland, and drifting piano melodies that float langorously in mid-air. Certainly not Elfman's best, by any means, but certainly very interesting.
