Winter Foliage is a set of stark and desolate compositions from Anthony Paul Kerby, aka the Circular Ruins. Being an academician, Kerby takes an intellectual approach to these cold atmospheres, and the structure has no structure. Kerby is the structure. The compositions have deep meaning. Kerby is the meaning. By combining anomalies, ambiguities, juxtapositions, puzzles, and riddles, Kerby becomes the question and the answer. Kerby is the music and the music is Kerby. The existential qualities of these soundscapes are surreal and tenacious. Kerby is quickly becoming Kerby. That is cool. This CD will appeal to fans of Kent Sparling, Robert Poss, and Diatonis.
