AllMusic Review by

The second of five LPs documenting the "loft scene" found in New York City during the mid-'70s is the strongest of these sets. Altoist Anthony Braxton and his sextet (with trombonist George Lewis), altoist Marion Brown's trio, trumpeter Leo Smith's New Delta Ahkri (a sextet with altoist Oliver Lake and pianist Anthony Davis), Ken McIntyre (on flute) with a quartet, and a septet headed by drummer Harold Smith (called "Flight to Sanity") play one selection apiece and the music is consistently stirring and adventurous. The entire historic series is recommended to listeners with open ears.
