The fifth and final LP released by Casablanca in their Wildflower series (which documents the New York loft scene of the mid-'70s) differs from the others in that it is comprised of two lengthy performances. Drummer Sonny Murray and his quintet (with David Murray on tenor, altoist Byard Lancaster, vibraphonist Khan Jamal and bassist Fred Hopkins) are heard on one side while altoist Roscoe Mitchell (accompanied by drummer Don Moye and percussionist Jerome Cooper) stretches out for over 25 minutes. This historic series is primarily for open-eared listeners who are interested in explorative music.
