AllMusic Review by

This set raises a few issues, beginning with whether the Troggs can be called "the Godfathers of Punk," which seems dubious. "Wild Thing" aside, the Troggs were most adept at melodic power ballads like "With a Girl Like You" and "Love Is All Around," material that no self-loathing punk band would ever touch. "Wild Thing" certainly sounds like it has punk attitude, especially with Reg Presley's sneering double-tracked lead vocal, but the song is essentially a novelty piece, and the Troggs were no punk band. The other problem with this collection is the tracks themselves, which appear to be re-recorded versions and not the original releases, and that includes the version here of "Wild Thing," making this a package best avoided.
