The second recording by trumpeter Randy Sandke's New Yorkers is the equal of their first (Stampede). Joined by clarinetist Ken Peplowski, trombonist Dan Barrett, pianist Mark Shane, guitarist James Chirillo, bassist Jack Lesberg and drummer Dave Ratajczak, Sandke performs 11 songs from the 1920s given fresh arrangements. Obscurities alternate with jazz standards and the highlights include "Wild Cat," "Shim-Me-Sha-Wabble," "Japanese Sandman" and "Stomp Off, Let's Go." Highly enjoyable hot jazz.
