AllMusic Review by

When the little-seen family film Wild America hit theaters in 1997, it was accompanied by an official soundtrack album that abandoned Joel McNeely's original score in favor of overly familiar classic rock hits from Steppenwolf, the Lemon Pipers and the American Breed. One year and one label later, Prometheus finally makes amends by resurrecting McNeely's score in full, and while it's by no means a lost classic, Wild America is a lively, warm-hearted effort that captures the wonder and danger of the jungle world. McNeely operates in bold, broad strokes, bouncing from Americana twang to wordless choirs and never sticking with any one idea long enough to run it into the ground.
