For electronic producers, sampling soon became less a revolutionary exercise and more a matter of course. Hal Willner's long experience with all manner of roots music makes Whoops, I'm an Indian a wildly eclectic record, sampling all manner of music from barbershop to tribal chants to "The Star Spangled Banner" to campfire songs. The dark breakbeats forming the background and the album's appearance on Howie B.'s Pussyfoot label make it nominally a dance work, though this is audio experimentalism of a high degree.
