AllMusic Review by

When the Grass Is Green and Warm is mucho-bizarro electro-pop: six songs full of poorly sung, Zappa-esque melodies and low-budget drum synths, punctuated with clips of conversations involving a British disco queen named Fontaine. "Fire It Up" sports a warm and folky melody amid its goofy, electro touches; the rest of the tracks are either near-funk numbers or cracked pop tunes, all of which incorporate highly askew group vocals and generally sound a lot more like demos than finished songs.
