Bob Florence, one of the top jazz arrangers of the 1980s and '90s, has a writing style influenced by Bill Holman. On this sadly out-of-print Discovery LP, Florence features such talented sidemen as Pete Christlieb and Bob Cooper on tenors, trumpeters Steve Huffsteter and Warren Luening, trombonist Charlie Loper, and Ray Pizzi on soprano. The music (all Florence originals) includes a trio of waltzes titled "One, Two, Three," "Carmelo's By the Freeway" and "Westlake"; the leader's fluent piano is showcased on the latter.
