We Came to Play Review

by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Sony Music Special Products' We Came to Play can't be considered a definitive collection, since "And We Danced," the Hooters' signature song, is missing. That's not to say there aren't any hits here -- in fact, with "All You Zombies," "Day By Day," "Where Do the Children Go" and "Satellite," over half of their charting singles are here. Still, We Came to Play is more of a sampler than anything else, especially since the remaining six songs are all album tracks. Some of these, such as "Brother, Don't You Walk Away," are quite good, while others are just average. Either way, it's simply a hodgepodge that's typical of budget-line collections.
