AllMusic Review by

A harmonica player/vocalist schooled at Little Walter University, a traditionalist with little affinity for contemporary sounds or flavor, as well as an underrated vocalist, Wallace Coleman excels on the humorous "Big Dog Blues" and "Black Spider": the former is about a dog whom food bills exceed the entire family's, and the latter is about a wicked woman with spiderish ways. Furthermore, "So Long" finds Coleman in good spirits despite the hurt on a mid-tempo drinking number, the super-cool "101 Blues" epitomizes the word "sweet," and "Off the Wall" is a tough instrumental fueled by Coleman's spirited harping.
