Jon Langford's punk roots are showing more than usual on this uneven disc (after all, he also fronts the Mekons). But while the rock edge of "Pigsville" is nice to hear, his obsession with all things cowboy begins to sound silly after a time with his Manchester accent. While the Mekons' "Honky Tonkin'" was a charming tip of the hat, it sounds like the English cowboy gag is wearing thin.
