AllMusic Review by

A nice collection of Cline in her (mostly) hard country mode, with special emphasis on crying-in-your-beer weepers. Highlights, apart from the familiar "Walking After Midnight," include "Walkin' Dream," whose faux Jordannaires harmony were probably employed in an early attempt at crossing over to the pop (read teenage) market; the self-descriptive "Honky-Tonk Merry Go Round,"; the gospel classic "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," (which Cline sings with the same serene authority she invests more secular material with); and the gloriously melodramatic "The Heart You Break May Be Your Own," which comes with brief studio chatter by producer Owen Bradley.
