While most of the material on this release actually cracks the two-minute barrier ("Song for the Weekend Girls" is actually over three minutes), most of the songs are close enough. Armed with a lo-fi approach to recording similar to Guided by Voices, Two Minute Miracles are actually fairly similar in other ways -- take a look at song titles like "My Heart Is Strong Like a Forest Ranger" -- but most notable of which is taking a nice short slab of melodic pop and developing it only minimally. The down side is that the edges are always a bit rough, but the up side is that there's no padding to get in the way of your pure pop enjoyment.
