AllMusic Review by

Nino Segarra's first album as a singer/bandleader is the best place to witness the high degree of musicality and originality that the singer (and seasoned arranger) has always displayed. In the late '80s, erotic romantic salsa had overpowered the market. However, Segarra can claim the title of vocalist with a defined, distinctive style whose excellent arrangements complement most graciously. Among the guilty pleasures is "Viva la Salsa," the singer's personal homage to a few salsa colleagues. There are other self-penned tunes, like "Cuando la Quiero," "Canta (One Voice)," and "Señora," and longtime collaborator Luis Seda contributes "Tu Vuelas" and "Mas Puya Que Sasonao." A great start for this magnetic salsa talent.
