The first Vintage Jazz album features performances by four musicians -- Earl Hines, Buddy Rich, Teddy Wilson, and Kai Winding -- who each prove more than capable of handling such timeless compositions as Billy Strayhorn's "Take the 'A' Train" and Lionel Hampton's "Earl's Pearl." Nothing here is revolutionary in approach, but rather refreshingly straightforward -- the perfect sort of approach for casual or light-hearted jazz fans who just want something simple and basic. A second album followed.
