Big Hair, Vol. 2 continues the VH1: The Big '80s pop-metal compilation subseries, and it's much like its predecessor: a fairly strong collection overall, but one that also sports a few odd choices (i.e., non-hit tracks by major artists). Vol. 2 shows a sense of humor with the inclusion of Spinal Tap's "Hell Hole," not to mention good taste with the heavy power pop of Enuff Z'Nuff's sparkling "New Thing"; elsewhere, there are signature tunes from Lita Ford ("Kiss Me Deadly"), Poison ("Nothin' But a Good Time"), and the Bulletboys ("Smooth Up in Ya"), plus the "other" hits by Twisted Sister ("I Wanna Rock"), White Lion ("Wait"), and Quiet Riot ("Bang Your Head [Metal Health]"). Although Rhino's Youth Gone Wild series is more comprehensive, both volumes of The Big '80s: Big Hair feature at least a few era-defining songs unavailable there, which may make them worth picking up.
