AllMusic Review by

Directed by Mean Girls' Mark Waters and written by Heathers' Daniel Waters, the film adaptation of the popular young adult book series Vampire Academy brings a playful edge to its bloodsucking melodrama that extends to its soundtrack; even Chvrches' cover of Bauhaus' classic "Bela Lugosi's Dead" is a lot more lighthearted than the original. Instead of stereotypical goth moping, the film's music features sassy pop from the likes of Natalia Kills, Katy Perry, and Rainy Milo, as well as hip-hop from Naughty Boy and Iggy Azalea. Highlights include Sky Ferreira's fittingly sultry "Red Lips," Goldfrapp's "Thea," and Bear in Heaven's "Sinful Nature."
