Urban Peace 2: Le Concert Evenement Rap-RnB is a CD/DVD documenting the massive live concert that took place on October 4, 2008, at Stade de France, the French national stadium in Saint-Denis, Île-de-France. The concert drew over 40,000 fans and featured over a dozen of the country's most popular rap and R&B superstars. It was an event staged to promote social solidarity in the banlieues of France. Urban Peace 2 is the second such concert. The first was staged six years earlier on September 21, 2002, at Stade de France and resulted in a double-disc CD comprised mostly of rap performances that was a Top Five hit on the French albums chart. Spanning the length of a single CD, Urban Peace 2 is half the length of its predecessor and includes a better balance of R&B. It also includes a DVD featuring video as well as audio. In order of appearance, the performers featured on the Urban Peace 2 recording include Tunisiano, Léa Castel, Rim' K, Kenza Farah, Sefyu, Kery James, Zaho, Sinik, Psy 4 de la Rime, Soprano, and Rohff. Those featured at the concert but not on the recording include Sniper, Sheryfa Luna, and Booba. The recording compiles selected performances from the concert. Highlights include the performances by veteran rappers Kery James, Soprano, and Rohff, all of whom also performed at the first Urban Peace concert. While it's nice to have some female representatives at the event, the R&B performances on Urban Peace 2 are disappointing. Neither Léa Castel, Kenza Farah, nor Zaho sounds good in this environment. For instance, Zaho performs one of her biggest hits, "C'est Chelou," and gets the crowd singing along with her, but it pales in comparison to her studio recording of the song. Kenza Farah's big hit, "Je Me Bats," likewise fails to impress as she cuts it short at just over a minute and is drowned out by her background vocalists. Another unfortunate aspect of Urban Peace 2 is the unrelenting crowd noise, which is mixed poorly with otherwise excellent soundboard recordings of the performers.
