Chalice was among the more underrated reggae bands of the early '80s. They made several entertaining, occasionally prophetic singles, but weren't able to earn the plaudits they deserved even within the reggae community. This 10-cut disc covers several prime cuts recorded between 1980 and 1987, presenting Chalice in settings ranging from groove-oriented uptempo pieces to message cuts and love songs. While "Peter Botha" is now dated, its message could be applied to other world situations, while "Go Slow," "Dangerous Disturbance" and "Good To Be There" are quality tunes that sound closer to the vintage reggae spirit than a lot of material from bands with bigger reputations.
