This first in a series of Frank Sinatra radio broadcasts from the Vintage Jazz Classics label, this disc features highlights from the Your Hit Parade show during the years 1942-1946. There are many Sinatra radio collections such as this out there and they are mainly aimed at collectors and rabid fans who want to hear him tackle songs that he didn't record for Columbia Records or to stretch out on new arrangements and sit down with guest vocalists and musicians. Here Sinatra sings "Let's Get Lost" (now most associated with Chet Baker), the swing-era favorite "Candy" and covers the Bing Crosby hit "Pistol Packin' Mama" and a host of other material. This isn't an essential set but Sinatra is in great voice and spirits, and the music on this disc shines with an innocent charm from a time long gone by.
