This 12-tune collection of boleros is compiled from the early years of Beny Moré fronting the great orchestras of Cuba. Before his voice took on that husky baritone, he was almost a tenor and these gorgeous, nearly achingly beautiful love songs are a treat. The package contains all the pertinent details, but they're not necessary. All that is necessary is an appreciation for Moré's voice and its grand interpretive nature when he delves into such classical material as Alberto Barreto's "Te Quedaras," José Claro Fumero's "Mi Amor, Mi Fe y Mi Ilusión," and Angel L. Jimenez's "Preferí Perderte," just to name a few. This is solid, top-to-bottom great Cuban music from the golden age.
