Unbreakable Review

by Tom Forget

Opening with the twin-guitar melodies of the powerful “Faithless”, Alabama’s MyChildren MyBride show that they have a keen ear for what made classic acts like Priest and Maiden so dynamic, yet they also have their finger in the socket of today’s potent metalcore. Both “Faithless” and “Headshot” from UNBREAKABLE display tasteful metal chops while unleashing drum-rolling brutality and grave-digging riffs. Singer Matthew Hastings tears bloody chunks out of his microphone without falling prey to rote cookie-monsterism, and the music routinely backs up his ferocity. The band’s name has a vaguely cult-like connotation, and UNBREAKABLE should handliy convert unbelievers to their cause.
