AllMusic Review by

This budget features a satisfactory cross-section of Southern rock, making sure to include plenty Skynyrd -- with "Three Steps," "That Smell," "Free Bird," and "Saturday Night Special," it's a regular Skynyrd Block Party Weekend -- as well as "Jessica" and "One Way Out" from the Allman Brothers Band, and a few left-field, bordering-on-soft rock tracks like "Jackie Blue" from the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and "So Into You" from Atlanta Rhythm Section. There's also the hard-charging "Train Train" from Blackfoot, and the choogling funk-blues of Elvin Bishop's "Struttin' My Stuff." This set probably doesn't deserve to have "Ultimate" in its name twice. But it's a nice enough mix of Southern rock workhorses and lesser-heard picks.
