As the title suggests, Two Raga Moods on Guitar has Brij Bhushan Kabra sticking to the classical repertoire. "Raga Yaman Kalyan" takes up all of side one. The alap and jor portion takes up nearly half the performance, before tabla joins about ten minutes in. Kabra's playing is nothing short of amazing. He has a wonderful sense of structure and melody, and his technique with the slide is unmatched, creating a series of distinct notes with a single plectrum stroke. "Raga Hemant" is slightly shorter, allowing room for a brief dhun on "Manj-Khamaj," a light classical piece. Brij Bhushan Kabra is certainly a true pioneer for this instrument in Indian music, but it is his inherent musical skill that makes his recordings such a delight.
