Judy Roberts is a very talented pianist based in Chicago who is also quite underrated as a singer. Her voice (which is heard on half of the selections) is friendly, attractive, and very musical and flexible, being an excellent match for her fluent piano. For this set of duets, she is joined by tenor saxophonist Greg Fishman, whose sound and choice of notes is strongly influenced by Stan Getz at his most luscious. The set of standards has many delightful moments and the two musicians constantly inspire each other. Due to Judy Roberts' strong left hand and constant inventiveness, one never misses the bass or drums. This is one of her strongest releases to date, and makes one wish that she were much better known outside of Chicago. Highly recommended.
