AllMusic Review by

A sampler of Slim Gaillard's 1945 recordings, most of the music on this Danish LP has since been reissued on a Classics CD, although there are three slightly later titles. The guitarist/singer/comedian, also heard in spots on piano and harpsichord, is in typically exuberant form, whether leading a trio/quartet (with Fletcher Smith or Dodo Marmarosa on piano, bassist Bam Brown and sometimes drummer Zutty Singleton) or on a few numbers with an all-star ten-piece (including trumpeter Howard McGhee, trombonist Vic Dickenson and tenors Lucky Thompson and Teddy Edwards). The music (highlighted by "Voot Boogie," "Tuitti-Fruitti," "Slim's Cement Boogie" and "Jumpin' at the Record Shop") is quite enjoyable and often a touch crazy.
