Billy Fury wasn’t plastered together and marketed to fit the then hot rockabilly craze in the late 1950s. The British rocker was already the real deal when he made his recording debut in 1959, and the 23 tracks on this budget compilation of Fury's earliest and best sides make that clear. Since this set includes all of the ten cuts that made up his career-defining 10” LP The Sound of Fury from 1960, Turn My Back on You makes a very good and affordable introduction to the one early British rocker who could stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran.
