New York's Revelation Theory cultivates a blockbuster sound, full of pounding drums and shredding guitars, that harks back to early 1990s Soundgarden. The four-piece leaves nothing to chance on its debut full-length release. The sledgehammer-like album-opener, "Slowburn," is a full-on aural assault, with Rich Luzzi's passionate vocals taking pride of place in the churning mix, while even the relatively sedate "Selfish and Cold" captures a mood of brooding menace in its measured, calculating tempos and searing chorus.
