AllMusic Review by

With the exception of an alternate take of Dusko Goykovich's "Adriatica," all of the dozen performances on this CD sampler are taken from previously released Enja albums. Of the trumpeters featured, Clark Terry, Woody Shaw (in a duet with drummer Roy Brooks) and the obscure Reiner Winterschladen are heard in cameos, Dizzy Gillespie is past his prime on 1989's "Kush" and Chet Baker plays a forgettable ballad "For Now." However Art Farmer, Benny Bailey, Goykovich, John D'Earth, Franco Ambrosetti and Jerry Gonzalez are in excellent form while young Nicholas Payton steals solo honors on "Body and Soul." Overall this CD gives one an interesting overview of a variety of trumpeters.
