A word of warning: these are not recordings of trumpeters. Repeat -- this is not a collection of trumpet players. Trumpet Records produced a series of recordings of blues artists, and the cover labels are more than a bit misleading. However, this collection features some fine blues, including a whopping eight tracks from the lesser-known pianist Jerry "Boogie" McCain. Though Sonny Boy Williamson is also here, the material from Willie Love and Lonnie Holmes doesn't live up to the rest. Overall, this is a six-of-one, half-dozen-of-the-other compilation that can be recommended, but only to stalwart blues fans.
