The second album from the Japanese underground pop group is a casual affair that sees them captured in an acoustic live gig from 1997. With an incredibly sparse atmosphere throughout, the group works in a minimalist mode with a loose improvised feel. This treatment makes their eloquent down-tempo pop sound even more homespun than on full-lengths The True World and On the Love Beach. Recalling '60s folk in their signature melancholia, the Osaka trio's avant-garde leanings suggest a heavy Velvet Underground influence. Like their fellow Japanese contemporaries Ghost, their music is created out of a love for past music where Felt, Big Star, and Nick Drake convene. While not the best place to start, fans of their On the Love Beach album will find common threads in the sleepy material that fills this CD. Originally released as an LP on Org, this reissue comes in a miniature replica of the original package with Japanese and English lyrics.
