This early collection by the Moody Blues features the group's original lineup, with Denny Laine on vocals and guitar. Prior to their later success as progressive, orchestral rock balladeers, they were a fairly standard British Invasion group who mixed R&B and Merseybeat styles to decent effect. With a couple of exceptions, True Story contains essentially the same track listing as their 1965 Decca Records debut, The Magnificent Moodies, and its slightly altered London Records version Go Now. Most notably absent is the song "Go Now," the band's first and only major hit with this lineup.
