AllMusic Review by

The second volume in the Tropique Samba Lounge series arrived one year after the first, and although it's just as swinging and mellow-sounding, the '60s and '70s samba heard here is slightly funkier and more energetic. For proof, look to a few of the highlights, from Gal Costa ("A Preta Do Acarajé"), Elza Soares ("Barão Beleza"), and Johnny Alf ("Um Tema Pro Simon"). Interspersed with these are a few light-hearted instrumental covers, including Walter Wanderley's version of "Os Grilos (Crickets Sing for Anamaria)" or Trio Mocotó's version of the Jobim standard "Águas de Março."
