AllMusic Review by

A British record label founded in 1968 by Lee Gopthal and specializing in licensing ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub, and other Jamaican sides for international distribution, Trojan Records has a deep catalog of late-'60s and early-'70s Jamaican classics that the label, now under the Sanctuary Records umbrella, recycles into themed compilations like this one, which features period dancehall sides. These compilations are full of fascinating tracks that chronicle the emergence of Jamaican pop music onto the international stage, and if they're constantly recycled, well, it's good that they're out there.
