Looking for tender melodies and sweet symphonic arrangements? Well, you've come to the wrong place. If you thought Lou Reed's white noise orgy, Metal Machine Music, was a tad too extreme and hard to take, wait 'til you get a load of Skullflower's 2006 offering, Tribulation. Comprised of a single gentleman, Matthew Bower, who supplies "all throat, strings, and concussion," Skullflower continues merrily along on its quest for the ultimate conglomeration of noise. Since it's all, well, noise, you'll be hard-pressed to differentiate one track from the next -- squeals, scrapes, and feedback are the name of the game here. As a result, Tribulation is perhaps the ultimate musical endurance tester.
