AllMusic Review by

Scads of Trax- and- Trax-heavy compilations were released on compact disc throughout 2013, but this one outclasses them all in terms of depth and detail. TraxBox is a 16-disc package that thoroughly compiles the first 75 releases from the Chicago house label. Dozens of essential early house tracks, including Adonis' "No Way Back," Sleezy D.'s "I've Lost Control," Marshall Jefferson's "The House Music Anthem (Move Your Body)," Mr. Fingers' "Can You Feel It," Phuture's "Acid Tracks," and Virgo Four's "In a Vision" are here, along with a larger amount of second-tier notables and largely forgotten cult classics. There's also a considerable amount of dreck, but that's to be expected with any completist undertaking. The accompanying 100-page book contains full track information, loads of pictures and label scans, proper liner notes, and press clippings. One could take issue with the quantity of material that is U.K.-centric, but it was a U.K. label that took the initiative, time, and care to put the set together.
