Since 1995, BBC Scotland's Transatlantic Sessions have provided a collaborative showcase for folk and country musicians from the British Isles and North America. Under the musical direction of Scottish fiddler Aly Bain and American Dobro player Jerry Douglas, the sessions are filmed and recorded at a specific lodge or old manor home in Scotland chosen by the production team. The sessions are revived every few years, with each new series being filmed in a new location and featuring a variety of special guests. For Series 6, which took place in 2013, artists like Teddy Thompson, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Aoife O'Donovan joined Bain and Douglas' house band in scenic Loch Lomond to record numerous performances of original and traditional material. The recordings here on the second volume of Series 6 feature collaborations with the aforementioned guests along with Phil Cunningham, Andy Irvine, Tim O'Brien, Karen Matheson, and many more.
