Toolbox Christmas is the insanely bizarre album of holiday favorites from Woody Phillips. Each song is done with a xylophone and the tool noises, making some of the songs absolutely maddening. This setup paves the way for two types of songs: normal Christmas songs with obnoxious noises behind them, and songs so angular and noisy that they resemble Phillip Glass more than "I Saw Three Ships." This is a very interesting listen if nothing else, but the haphazard style of the album is much less listener-friendly than they probably anticipated. This may be fun for people who enjoy gimmicky Christmas albums, but otherwise this is not a very appealing album outside of its initial weirdness.
