Producer Ben Bagley, who has put together a series of Revisited albums of the obscure songs of theatrical songwriters, expanded to a full-length studio cast album with this recording of Rodgers and Hart's 1939 college musical. Few original cast recordings were made in those days, and the show is best remembered for a 1940 film version that preserved some of the score and the cast. Here, Estelle Parsons and Anthony Perkins led an excellent cast in a set of mostly lesser-known R&H songs including "I Didn't Know What Time It Was," "You're Nearer," "Love Never Went to College," and "I Like to Recognize the Tune." There are plenty of other R&H musicals waiting for the same treatment.
