Recorded live in Boesendorfer Hall in Seoul, South Korea, this CD is a collaboration between percussionist Heinz Geisser and pianist Guerino Mazzola. At the time of this concert, the two musicians had been playing together for three years, and their incredible synergy is clearly apparent. Mazzola plays with extreme intensity, not unlike Cecil Taylor, but with his own individual stamp. He infuses his incredible technique with a blues aesthetic and a sometimes-romantic stamp, overwhelming everything in his path. Geisser is best known for his work with the Collective 4tet, and he is every bit Mazzola's equal, with complementary lines, pings, and pops that propel, nudge, and sprint. Together, they are a dynamic duo, with a flair for flamboyant, invigorating, if exhausting, excursions.
