The St. Clair label is honest, at least, since they print "New stereo recordings by the original artist" on the cover of the dishonestly titled Timeless Classics. These versions of "Turn Off the Lights," "Love T.K.O.," "Close the Door," "Only You," "The Whole Town's Laughing at Me," and five others, however, couldn't possibly compete with the originals. Pendergrass' voice is not in ideal shape, and the level of instrumentation here is nowhere near that of the real deal. Many legitimate compilations can be had. Look for any Sony BMG-affiliated release, and avoid this -- and any other disc bearing chintzy presentation and unfamiliar label names.
