For this 1986 set, which was reissued on CD 16 years later with an alternate take added, the great veteran Swedish clarinetist Putte Wickman is teamed with Phil Woods' rhythm section: pianist Hal Galper, bassist Steve Gilmore, and drummer Bill Goodwin. Although they had not played together previously, Wickman and his sidemen recorded this full CD in two hours and sound very much like an organized group. The music falls into hard bop much of the time and includes both standards (including "I'll Remember April," "But Not for Me," and "I Thought About You") and three songs from Swedish jazz musicians. An excellent effort.
