Released in 2008, WICKED WAYS finds alt-pop performer Lily Brooks working in the same moody, dramatic vein as Tori Amos, albeit with a guitar-driven, goth-rock edge. The Boston-bred singer-songwriter does offer up more subdued songs, but she is most engaging when amping things up, as on the Evanescence-like “Apocalypse Kiss.”
