AllMusic Review by Dave Shim

The white-knuckle noise abstractions of Spanish sound artist Francisco Lopez rarely, if ever, resemble anything close to traditional (or even experimental) music forms. Concerned with the materiality of sound itself, Lopez’s long-form, often hour-plus-length compositions explore the extremes of aural perception, from sub-audible field recordings to blistering slabs of white noise. The five-CD folio, THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, presents five different CD-length works recorded between 1993 and 2008, covering a diverse range of material from environmental recordings of South American rainforests to site-specific works made in New York City buildings.
